UNITED MARGUISA LINES – New stakeholder in the "project cargo" industry

General

Building on the Joint Sailing Agreement (JSA) between Marguisa and United Heavy Lift, we are proud to announce the creation of United Marguisa Lines ApS (UML), the company that will operate our joint services to and from the African continent.

The partnership's first year has proven to be very valuable for many of our clients and we have therefore decided to put the service on a further formal footing. The new company is led by the general managers, Francisco Durán (from Marguisa) and Christian Monsted (from United Heavy Lift). Two vessels, "UML Verónica” and "UML Valentina", will be run by this new company long term and the additional tonnage will be chartered to meet the different needs. In general, 3-4 additional vessels will be chartered for short periods.

"Even though the market situation in West Africa has been under great pressure for the last year, we are managing to fulfil the services with fortnightly departures from the Mediterranean and monthly departures from Europe. We are therefore convinced that we will be able to grow this service even further in the coming years and also expand our range to include East Africa, where we are particularly focused with large LNG projects in Mozambique," explained Christian Monsted.

Francisco Durán, in turn, noted that "United Marguisa Lines coming into service confirms United Heavy Lift and Marguisa's long-term commitment to Africa and, particularly, to developing its project cargo and breakbulk sectors. We have a long road ahead of us, many challenges and opportunities, but the path is well paved and has a highly motivated team, that is client oriented, skilled and more eager than ever to continue providing the African market with sustainable, innovative and effective maritime transport solutions.
